What Oil Filter Do I Need for a 2016 Honda Accord?

The 2016 Honda Accord uses a standard spin on type oil filter. This is the most common type of oil filter used on vehicles currently on the road today. Every manufacturer out there makes the 2016 Honda Accord oil filter.

Listed below are the model numbers from the various manufacturers:

FRAM Tough Guard TG7317, 15,000 Mile Protection Spin-On Oil Filter

Bosch 3323 Premium FILTECH Oil Filter

Genuine Honda 15400-PLM-A02 Oil Filter

Mobil 1 M1-110A Extended Performance Oil Filter

Purolator PBL14610 PurolatorBOSS Maximum Engine Protection Spin On Oil Filter

Any of the oil filters listed above will meet or exceed the manufacturers recommendations. Both of the 2016 Honda Accord’s engines, the 2.4L and the 3.5L V6, use the same oil filter.

You should use a full synthetic motor oil when performing a Honda Accord oil change. The Honda recommended engine oil viscosity for both engines is a  0W-20 rated oil. Honda has their own brand of oil, but you can also find many choices from all of the big name oil producers – Valvoline, Pennzoil, Mobil 1, and Castrol.

If your vehicle has over 75,000 miles – you should start using some of the High Mileage rated motor oils. These oils are specially formulated with additives to help with seal longevity, preventing the buildup of sludge, and the varying tolerances in older cars.

You will need 4.4 quarts for the 2.4L engine and 4.5 quarts for the 3.5L V6 engine when you change the oil and the oil filter together. Always change the oil filter when you change the oil.

The recommended frequency to change oil in a car running full synthetic motor oil is 7,500 to 10,000 miles. If you are using a conventional oil then that oil change interval is 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Both of these numbers are based on driving in normal conditions.
